Fabric is a simple pythonic remote deployment tool.
It is designed to upload files to, and run shell commands on, a number of servers in parallel or serially. These commands are grouped in tasks (regular python functions) and specified in a 'fabfile.'
This is called remote automation, and the primary use case is deploying applications to multiple similar hosts.

Shameless Soliciting to Select our SXSW Sessions
Today the voting begins for panel selection for the 2009 SXSW Interactive Festival in Austin, Texas. Traci and I have been fortunate enough to have a total of three sessions accepted for voting. Voting goes through Friday, August 29th and we need your help voting up our sessions!
If you’re not a SXSW alum, please fill out a quick sign-up at the SXSW Panel Picker. You don’t have to be planning to attend SXSW (although you totally should) to sign-up and vote and you will not get wind up getting spam. Promise!
Please vote for our panels (5-stars will work) and any other topics you find interesting. There are a lot of great session ideas worth checking out. Vote on what interests you. Even if you’re not going, you can read about the panels you liked from the comfort of your blog reader. If you are going, let’s grab a beer while we’re there.
Here’s our Panel Info:
- “You Need to De-Geek the Geek, Geek!” by Traci Miller
- “Friends And Following Has Flaws” by Josh Babetski
- “Whereify Your Content; Gain an Audience of Millions” by Josh Babetski
We thank you very much for your support and please encourage everyone you know to vote.
Vote early and often! Thanks!
