- I picked up LittleBigPlanet last night on my way out for Plum St. merriment so didn’t get to play yet. http://www.littlebigplanet.com/

- Retweet: http://apple.com/webapps MapQuest for the iPhone is a staff pick!

- The person I’m having my 2:15 conf. call with confirmed by telling me “11:15am PST rocks my world!” That’s awesome; like the enthusiasm!

- @larrymyers can now add “Legal Liaison” to his list of responsibilities

- @khartline Someone clearly with a preference for things at 11:15. I myself find 11:55am to not rock my world at all. It just delays lunch.

- @kmueller62 My lil’ brother is a Sophomore @ Millersville and a Communications Major. He might be interested in XPN volunteering. DM me.

- I feel the code name “Project What are you waiting for a pork chop?” is preferable to “Project Chocolate Shake.” Other choices I can’t post.

- @kirstenm @chipd’s involvement is limited to knowing the origin of all those names. The devs jacked the “pork chop” quote from me.

- Hard to put neighbor at ease that our 110lb Rotty won’t eat his baby when all she can focus on is licking the tiny cheerio smelling thing.

- Productivity zero night: sitting on couch and playing LittleBigPlanet, Rock Band 2, and maybe Fable 2 or DVR catching up.

Twitter Daily Digest (2008-10-22)
- Caught up on some programming last night from the DVR. This week’s Chuck was one of the best episodes yet, so was Californication.

- VP of Product brought me in a British Cricket ball. You could seriously brain someone with this thing!

- @AprilRox and Mike need to come out and visit us on the east coast! @antthelimey and I are taking Law for his first wing night tonight.

- For the curious, bored and local, a few of the @mapquest crew will be out tonight at 915 and Hall’s. If you’re in the area, stop by; say hi.

- Power just went out in the office. 10 minute countdown before we abandon all hope and move down to the Chili’s conference room.

- @lfaren I tried it. It’s so-so. Turned it off; had a hard time with multiple email addresses for a contact with gmail addys. Caused issues.

Twitter Daily Digest (2008-10-20)
- Brought the video camera into the office for a project I’m working on w/ @antthelimey. Cinematic genius or Industrial how not-to video? TBD.

- @danielklotz Another suggestion: Roll the November one into the Thanksgiving Eve Pub Crawl (aka Amateur night) since we’ll all be out anyway

- Via @antthelimey: Found http://howisobamadoing.com/ which led to seeing if there’s something at http://howismccaindoing.com/. There was!

- @mhusson Sorry to hear; pets are indeed family. I lost my dog to lymphoma years ago; still pause at the thought of getting another.

- @icelander Bah! You don’t need to do that the night before. I’ve demanded a fried turducken. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turducken

- @danielklotz Good question. I usually just show up and work my way down Plum St. Maybe it’s just a Wednesday thing and there’s more people?

- video footage on a slow upload to @chipd for editing. queue the benny hill music and pray we don’t get fired.

Twitter Daily Digest (2008-10-19)
- fun time at @barcampdc yesterday. great job and thanks to the crew for having us. more pizza next time. <grin>

- @jrishel jQuery is very sweet. sorry I’m missing cposc08; I just got back from DC.

- So Safari/Webkit now chews up the CPU as soon as I fire it up. Yanked plugins and ~/Library/Safari Directory. Neither fixed it. Thoughts?

- The answer to the runaway Safari process seemed to be “Empty Cache.” Why I didn’t try something basic like that sooner remains a mystery.

Safari Flipping Out? Try Clearing the Cache
Over the past few weeks Safari started chewing up the CPU and causing my MacBook Pro to sound like it’s going to take flight. This of course chews up the battery as well.
At first, I thought there was Flash running in one of the pages I load regularly since Flash has a number of issues running well on a Mac. My other thought was that one of the sites I visit regularly has some weird JavaScript bug. The CPU usage would just start climbing at some point; I couldn’t pin down what the cause was or the exact steps to recreate it.
So today I fire it up and Safari immediately starts to devour system resources. Fed up, I do all of the usual things: disabled plug-ins, moved the contents out of ~/Library/Safari, watched the Console for odd messages. Nothing seemed to do it.
Then in occurred to me to try something as a web developer I do all the time: Empty the Browser Cache. (Safari > Empty Cache…)
Disco! It seems once the cache gets to a certain point in Safari, it begins to struggle.
Sometimes the answer is simple.
Hope this helps.

- Will hopefully wrap up some business dealings today. Then again, I’ve thought this before. Bummed @tracibabe will be out-of-town today.

- http://www.mapquest.com is now optimized for the iPhone/iPod Touch. Awesome job @mhusson, @graham310, @larrymyers an non-twittering MQers!

- Check out @Current posting locations on Hack the Debate. Very cool! #current

- This just in: Plumber’s Union being heavily lobbied by both candidates for endorsement. Tie vote to be broken by guy named “Joe.” #current

- @mhusson ohhhhh… shiny new toy. Congrats! You forgot to mention that new electronics smell.

- Upgraded to FlashPlayer 10. Let’s hope Adobe’s learned to love the Mac and my MBP will stop trying to take flight when Flash is running.

- Just found http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/ via @gruber. My brain just exploded from all the election data on this page.

- mmm… grilled us up some marinated chicken.

- Great idea from @barackobama: http://Taxcut.BarackObama.com/ My cut is $0, but I’m not in a demo that needs it. Great way to fight GOP FUD.

- Cool: The Taxcut calculator can be embedded, brought to you by the cool cats at @clearspring http://cli.gs/QHg3Qr

- Palin as President: http://palinaspresident.com/ Funny stuff! Not really on a political kick today, just working out like that.

- @Hicksdesign Had opposite issues, jumped from CVS to Git, then had projects using SVN. Prefer Git; some helpful links: http://cli.gs/uBAtmE

- Lot of drama swirling around today. Full Moon?

- Just saw some really cool MapQuest dev work from @mhusson, @graham310 and @larrymyers. You will too — soon!

- Why are dogs happy to chase their ball you’ve taken and thrown? If I sat on the couch and you threw my remote, I do believe I’d smack you.
